No visit to the Boston area is complete without a visit to Mr. Bartley’s Burger Cottage, where along with great burgers and sides, they make a mean raspberry-lime rickey.
I had the Tom Brady: a medium burger with guac, cheddar and red onions, onion rings on the side, please.
Nom nom nom.
Brian had the Jersey Shore: sauteed onions, grilled mushrooms, bacon and cheddar, sweet potato fries on the side.
Next, we ambled from Harvard Square to Inman Square to hit up Christina’s Ice Cream, where the ginger-molasses was, while to die for, not photogenic.
For dinner, we followed the recommendation of several of you and visited the Russell House Tavern, where, along with great cocktails and beer, we downed:
Chickpea fritters with harissa aioli and roasted red pepper,
short rib beef wellington,
cod with creamed fennel and bacony greens, and
a trio of pork (loin, shoulder and belly) with sauce vinegar and grits.
All in all, a good day’s eating. Now we spend the evening recovering, so we can chow down again tomorrow. (On the roster: cocktails at Drink and dinner at B&G Oysters.)
Those onion rings look fantastic. They’re my biggest weakness.
If you have time, try to get to East Coast Grill in Cambridge, or Figs on Beacon Hill for thin crust pizza.
Enjoy!
since I will be rocking beantown in 10 short days, i want to get the public thanks out of the way right here…
“All in all, a good day’s eating”

I want that short rib beef wellington in my mouthhole right now.
That looks amazing.
You had the molasses ice cream!!! I want that in my mouth, now. It is my favorite, and now I live too far away… 😦
