I’ve been wanting a new tattoo lately, and although I already had a plan I think it may have just changed.
I think this should be the official tattoo of the food blog community. Our identifying mark, since it would be too difficult to coordinate a secret handshake amongst so many far-flung people. If Sailor Jerry had been asked to draw up a tat for Alice Waters, this is what he would have created.
If you’re one of those wussy “but I don’t want someone etching designs directly into my skin with the equivalent of a tiny sewing machine needle filled with ink” people, you can always get the temporary version at Spoon Sisters.
Crybaby.
This is fucking awesome! And relevant to my personal life. I just put a drawing deposit down on a huge food related tattoo. For realsies. I had no idea I was this current.
I’d have to go in favor of black and white over color. It would blend better w/ my other tattoo, and to look less like a Scratch ‘n Sniff tattoo… which is a rather intriguing notion, tho I’m pretty sure I frequently smell like meat and (fermented) grapes anyway, so actually it could work. 🙂
I know tats are popular, but someday, I’m going to be 90 and it’s going to be really, really saggy, like the rest of me. And God forbid it’s on a boob…
Well, I don’t have a tattoo and I doubt I ever would get one (I’m just a bit over half as old as Tina), but if I ever did I would get a little chile pepper somewhere inconspicuous, like on the bottom of my foot or something.
My 22yo son has one, though. I first saw it when I had to go to the ER after he was in an accident, so that was a fun discovery. They were vacuuming SHARDS OF AUTO GLASS off of his body (with a real vacuum!) and he had to turn over: Radiohead logo on his left calf. Surprise, Mom! I hope he likes them as much in 30 years. I wondered why he hadn’t worn shorts in a while around me.
megan, really? i have to say, i would never actually get this as a tattoo but am intrigued by your food tattoo. what are you getting?
chessa, that’s not a cartoon, it’s a classic. although i go for the straight black-and-white as well.
tina, i can’t think of a more terrible place to put a tattoo than on a boob. you’re just asking for trouble with that.
peggasus, no excuse. my MIL got her first on in her early 50s, and went with me to get one during my last inking.
it’s been almost 10 years since my first one, and i’m pleasantly surprised that i still really, really like it. (of course, all of mine are on my back, so if i ever start to regret them, they’re easily ignored.)
I am totally going to get this right beneath my Bewitched. Greg may have some space by his elbow.
*’Bewitched’ is an actual tattoo not a metaphor for my hoo-hoo
Note to Peggasus: I’m not 90 yet! I said SOMEDAY!! OK, so I’m a little sensitive about my age Only a little, though…
