Tiny bowls. Bowls with HATS. Bowls with hats that cost a BAJILLION DOLLARS.* But they're so fucking cute, they make me want to puke rainbows. I want to have them all on my kitchen table, filled with sugar cubes, and I don't even use sugar cubes. And they would be all, like, "YOU CANNOT RESIST THE SUGAR CUBES FROM OUR ADORABLE HAT-TOPPED BELLIES," and they would totally be right.

There are some foods that non-cooking-type people will be really impressed when you make from scratch, even though you as a cooking person know they are actually very easy. (Non-cooking-type people, stop reading here so you don't lose the magic. Remember how you felt when you found out there was no Santa?). Like layer cakes. Chocolate mousse Truffles. Pretty much any candy, come to think of it. Like toffee. Delicious, buttery toffee, covered in chocolate and nuts.

I had big plans for tonight. Big. Huge. I left work at a reasonable hour - 4:30! A train was leaving just as I got to the subway station. I was all set to get home around 5, scour the cookbooks for a recipe that would use up all my CSA tomatoes and tomatillos and the pork loin I had defrosting, smack it on down, and then make cupcakes for the admin assistants at my office who've proofread 300 pages of copy for me this week, because I am a fucking sweetheart.
