sangria

Sangria
6 oz. strawberries, hulled and halved
6 oz. fresh pineapple, roughly chopped
6 oz. sliced peaches (frozen is fine if it’s not peach season)
1 bottle cheap red wine
1 bottle cheap white wine
1 c. orange juice
1/2 c. simple syrup*
1/3 c. cognac or brandy

Combine everything in a big ol’ pitcher the day before you want to serve it. Let it sit in the fridge so the flavors marry, stirring it a bit whenever you think about it. Serve cold, with optional club soda to add some fizz.

*Simple syrup: equal parts sugar and water, brought to a boil to dissolve all the sugar, then cooled.

I know the post is old so my post is late: but I like reading your older posts for isnpiration…food and otherwise: try adding about 1/2 cup of Ginger ale or lemon lime soda…gives it a nice efervescent quality
