Thursday Night Smackdown

You're Welcome

This artisanal post was handcrafted just for YOU using the finest in locally sourced vocabulary on 14 Jan 2010, and is filed under miscellany.

Thursday Night Giveback

Tonight, rather than spend my money on crab claws or lobster tails or vanilla beans or porterhouse steaks, I’ll be donating the average amount of a Smackdown to Haitian earthquake relief, and I’ll add another dollar for everyone who comments on this post before Saturday at noon EST.

If you did the same on your blog – whatever you can afford, a dollar per comment, a quarter per comment, a dime per comment – we could really shake some shit up.

I think this effort is totally awesome (in the words of my granddaughter). Let’s hope it goes to the people that really need it and not into any corrupt officials. It sounds like you have that covered. Again, totally awesome girl.

    You’re fucking awesome.

I’m not doing anything through my blog since I’m fairly certain no one reads it. However, I do sell gourmet food as a side job and have pledged to donate 20% (nearly all that I make) of product sold through Jan 31 to Partners in Health. Haven’t mentioned before because I’m not that much of a whore. But I will whore myself out for Haiti. Anyone is welcome to contact me if you want more details!!

Thank you for doing this. And just as a reminder to everyone (not because you haven’t heard it, but maybe you haven’t done it yet) you can donate $10 to the Red Cross via cell phone by texting the word HAITI to 90999.

Every cell phone carrier (in the US) is waiving the fees if you choose to do so.

This is awesome! I’m going to donate on my own, which would be about the same as what it would be if I hosted a similar thing on my own blog, since I don’t get many comments. :) Yay for bloggers doing good things!

    You’re great.

Nobody reads my blog, but I actually WORK at a website that helps nonprofits raise money online, and it’s been amazing to watch the support just explode. Not just more people making fundraising pages for Haiti relief, but the amounts donated are amazing. Doctors Without Borders actually MAXED OUT their Haiti coffers and asked us to stop letting people make new pages for them.

It’s amazing to see the outpouring of help and efforts like this all over the place. I like people.
